RIR Electronics to set up ₹618 crore silicon carbide semiconductor facility in Odisha: Executive
RIR Power Electronics, a high-power semiconductor company, is setting up a ₹618 crore silicon carbide (SiC) semiconductor manufacturing facility in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, a senior global executive of the company told ET.
The project will get fiscal support from the Odisha state government, covering half of the investment.
Perry Schugart, chief marketing officer of Schugart said that silicon carbide technology is a “game-changer for power electronics” due to its “wideband gap properties that offer much faster switching speeds than silicon, leading to greater energy efficiency and lower heat generation”.
