Tata Communications dials telecom department for subsea cable repair

NEW DELHI: Tata Communications, a part of India’s diversified conglomerate Tata group, has sought intervention from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) in order to engage diplomatic channels for undertaking the repair of undersea fibre-optic cables in the Red Sea.
“Following cuts in the South East Asia-Middle East-Western Europe 4 (SMW4) and I-ME-WE cable systems, Tata Communications has reached out to the telecom department to use the diplomatic route for facilitating their repair, ” an industry executive told ETTelecom.
