Setting goals: Plan in works for pool of 275,000 chip designers by 2032

New Delhi | Bengaluru: The government has fast tracked efforts to create a pool of 275,000 chip designers in the country as part of its vision to expand the semiconductor workforce to 1.2 million by 2032, as it aims to make India a global hub for semiconductor innovation and manufacturing.

Stakeholder ministries, including the ministries of skills development and entrepreneurship, education, and electronics and information technology (MeitY) are jointly working on a roadmap to address the talent shortage in the sector over the next few years, a senior government official told ET.
