China calls for global AI governance as researchers warn of threat to humanity
The growing concern over AI and its existential threat to humans has prompted China to call for stronger “global governance” of artificial intelligence, with all countries working together to develop the technology for the benefit of humanity and prevent it from “getting out of control”.
Beijing’s position comes shortly after leading AI firms, including OpenAI and Anthropic, were hit by a series of resignations by several AI researchers who sounded the alarm over the race to superintelligence and AI’s potential risks.
