Identification of AI-generated content

The European Union has put in place a Code of Practice on Transparency of AI-Generated Content, laying down a structured framework that requires providers of generative AI systems to ensure their outputs are marked and detectable, while also placing clear disclosure obligations on those who deploy such systems to produce or publish content that reaches users.

The Code, which covers synthetic audio, image, video and text generated or manipulated by AI systems, is grounded in the EU AI Act and applies to signatories who are providers of generative AI systems falling within its scope. It draws a clear line between what is mandatory and what is recommended.
