Facebook parent Meta has announced that it will cut 102 more jobs at its San Francisco Peninsula offices. The latest round of layoffs comes as the company shifts investment from its metaverse division to wearable technology. The company filed these job cuts with California’s Employment Development Department, which will affect Meta’s corporate locations on the San Francisco Peninsula in Silicon Valley, including facilities in San Mateo County and the company’s Menlo Park headquarters.In an email (seen by the Silicon Valley Business Journal), a Meta spokesperson said, “We said last month that we were shifting some of our investment from metaverse toward wearables. This is part of that effort, and we plan to reinvest the savings to support the growth of wearables this year.”
