Google sues data scraping company SerpApi for stealing web content, Texas-based tech firm responds
Google has filed a federal lawsuit against Texas-based data scraping company SerpApi, alleging the company bypassed security protocols to deceptively harvest and then resell copyrighted search content. The legal action has been filed in the Northern District of California, accuses the company of theft using shady back doors. According to the 13-page complaint, SerpApi uses hundreds of millions of fake search requests to “mimic human behaviour” and circumvent Google’s technological safeguards, including a newly deployed security measure known as SearchGuard.“We filed a suit today against the scraping company SerpApi for circumventing security measures protecting others’ copyrighted content that appears in Google search results.
