New Delhi: Taiwan’s Hon Hai Precision Industry Co (Foxconn) has hired nearly 30,000 staff for its new iPhone assembly unit in Devanahalli, near Bengaluru, in just eight-nine months, the fastest ramp-up by any factory in India so far, people aware of the details told ET, reflecting Apple’s commitment to diversifying its supply chain beyond China.
Notably, the facility – spread over 300 acres – is primarily run by women, accounting for around 80% of the headcount with most in their first jobs in the age group of 19-24, the people said.
