Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman has distanced the company’s hiring process from the multi-million-dollar spending of his rivals like Facebook-parent Meta as Silicon Valley witnesses an increasing “talent war” to gain momentum in the AI space. Specifically, Suleyman has identified two words that define his recruitment strategy of AI talent, rejecting the idea of astronomical pay packages: Team and Culture.

Speaking on a recent Bloomberg Podcast, Suleyman addressed the industry’s soaring compensation trends, where Meta has offered signing bonuses and salary packages that have reached as much as $250 million and offering engineers $100 million signing bonuses.
