HP’s top executive shares plan for AI devices’ that will keep your data more secure

HP is moving toward major changes in AI-enabled devices. In the coming days, most of these devices will reduce dependency on remote cloud computing and distant data centres. The PC maker claims a shift driven by concerns over “privacy and security.” According to HP’s Chief Commercial Officer, David McQuarrie, this strategy addresses the growing need for data sovereignty. In an interview with Fortune, he explained, “In a world where sovereign data retention matters, people want to know that if they input data to a model, the model won’t train on their data.”

McQuarrie expects that AI PCs, which are devices capable of running AI tasks locally, will soon become standard. He explained: “Longer term, it will be impossible not to buy an AI PC, simply because there’s so much power in them.”
