Apple’s next big update for iPhone, iOS 27, may not bring any new features except this big one
Apple has begun work on the next major software releases for the coming year, with iOS 27 reportedly focusing on quality improvements and Apple Intelligence enhancements rather than introducing flashy new features, according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman.
In his Power On newsletter published Sunday, Gurman revealed that Apple is taking a page from its 2009 Mac OS X Snow Leopard playbook—prioritising refinement over revolution. The company’s engineering teams are systematically reviewing iOS to eliminate bloat, squash bugs, and boost overall performance following the Liquid Glass design overhaul introduced in iOS 26.
