Google opens largest AI engineering centre outside US in Taiwan
Google has inaugurated its biggest artificial intelligence (AI) infrastructure hardware engineering centre outside of the US in Taiwan. Located on Taipei, the new AI engineering center will mainly focus on AI infrastructure hardware engineering, with technology developed and tested there being deployed across Google’s global data centres. These systems power billions of Google devices and services worldwide. Aamer Mahmood, Google Cloud’s Vice President of Platforms Infrastructure Engineering, highlighted the significance of the move: “This is not just an investment in an office, it’s an investment in an ecosystem, a testament to Taiwan’s place as an important centre for global AI innovation.”
