Jio edges past Airtel in September mobile subscriber additions, retains market lead
Reliance Jio narrowly outpaced Bharti Airtel in mobile subscriber additions in September, gaining 27.13 lakh users against its rival’s 26.92 lakh, according to data released by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on Tuesday.
The additions took Jio’s wireless mobile subscriber base to 51.11 crore at the end of September 2026, while Airtel’s tally stood at 49.43 crore. Jio remained the country’s largest mobile operator, with a market share of 39.32 per cent, followed by Airtel at 38.02 per cent.
