Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence startup, xAI, has secured a significant international partnership, agreeing to collaborate with the state-backed Saudi company Humain to construct a sprawling new data center in the oil-rich kingdom, according to sources familiar with the negotiations, as quoted by The New York Times. The deal reportedly aligns the intersecting ambitions of Elon Musk, who has been aggressively seeking partners to accelerate xAI’s growth in the competitive AI race against rivals like OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google, and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, who is attempting to transform Saudi Arabia into a global technology and artificial intelligence hub.

The joint project is poised to become xAI’s largest data center outside the United States, designed to consume an estimated 500 megawatts of electricity.
