Enabling GPU availability at less than a dollar: MeitY’s Abhishek Singh

NEW DELHI: India can offer GPU (Graphics Processing Unit) at an affordable pricing under $1 or Rs 60 per hour, and the country would need more than 1 lakh processors to scale up artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities, a top official of the Ministry of Electronics & IT (MeitY) said.

“Today we have 38,000 GPUs which are available at a very low cost of Rs 60 per hour. It is less than a dollar,” Singh said, adding that India may need more than 100,000 GPUs to scale up inferencing.
