Airtel Payments Bank partners with Hitachi to expand soundbox payments

In a strategic move to boost digital payment adoption, Airtel Payments Bank has partnered with Hitachi Payment Services to roll out an end-to-end Soundbox solution for merchants across India. The collaboration aims to enhance merchant acceptance infrastructure and enable millions of customers to transact securely and digitally. The Soundbox device, developed jointly by Airtel Payments Bank and Hitachi Payment Services, offers multilingual audio payment alerts and doubles as a promotional tool for merchants to broadcast offers and updates in real time.

The partnership supports the entire merchant lifecycle—from onboarding and training to device deployment, payment processing, real-time analytics, and settlements.
