China bans research firm that exposed Huawei’s ‘chip secret’, expands its list of banned technology companies
China has placed a known Canadian research firm TechInsights on its Unreliable Entity List, effectively banning the teardown specialist from conducting business with organisations or individuals in the country. The move, announced in a statement on Thursday (October 9), is reportedly seen as retaliation for the firm’s role in exposing the inner workings and supply chain of Huawei’s advanced AI chips.
Bloomberg reported that TechInsights, which specialises in detailed breakdowns to identify the parts and technology within electronic products, has been first to reveal undisclosed suppliers and components in high-profile Chinese hardware.
