In India, Aadhaar is a 12‑digit unique identity number given by UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) to residents. It’s used as proof of identity and address. For children under five, a special version called Baal Aadhaar (child Aadhaar) is available. It includes the child’s name, photograph, date of birth, gender, and is linked to one parent’s Aadhaar number. But it does not require biometric data (fingerprints or iris scans) for that age group.
