The Karnataka government may introduce a licencing system for YouTube news channels as chief minister (CM) Siddaramaiah has offered to examine the demands of the electronic media.
The Karnataka Electronic Media Journalists’ Association submitted a memorandum to him in Hubballi on Monday, requesting licensing norms for YouTube news channels. Currently, only TV channels need a licence to operate. The CM responded positively, offering to examine the demand after inaugurating the Association and releasing its logo at Hubballi.
