Merck eyes Indian suppliers to tap growing chip market
German chemicals major Merck is evaluating several local suppliers as it braces to serve India’s burgeoning semiconductor ecosystem, Kai Beckmann, chief executive officer of Merck’s electronics division and member of the executive board, told ET in an exclusive interview.
“India has potential for significant roles in the supplier sector,” Beckmann said. “While the market is not as developed as in some other regions, opportunities exist due to the presence of raw materials suppliers and a chemical engineering infrastructure. For local suppliers to effectively support the industry, it is important to meet standards in quality, safety, and innovation.”
