Increasing tariffs to help, but need more users: Airtel

Mumbai: Bharti Airtel, India’s second biggest phone company, believes raising entry-level tariffs on 5G prepaid services is the right step toward building an optimal pricing structure, but concedes it won’t move the needle much on average revenue per user (ARPU) on its own.

Instead, Airtel says the ARPU move would come with more customers buying smartphones and switching from prepaid to costlier postpaid plans.
