Apple’s ‘problems’ with Masimo continue; US customs sued over imports of this Apple product
Medical technology company Masimo has sued US Customs and Border Protection, alleging the agency improperly allowed Apple to import its smartwatches with blood-oxygen sensors. The lawsuit claims that Customs reversed a previous decision without notifying Masimo, a key player in the ongoing patent dispute between the two companies. According to a report by the news agency Reuters, the lawsuit, which was filed in a Washington, DC federal court, Masimo claimed learning about the agency’s August 1 decision only after Apple announced it would reintroduce the blood-oxygen feature to its watches last week. Masimo, which is based in Irvine, California, has separately accused Apple in federal court of hiring its employees and stealing its pulse oximetry technology.
