Google CEO Sundar Pichai calls this as ‘one of the most successful launches in Search in last 10 years’

Google CEO Sundar Pichai called AI overviews as one of the most successful launches in Search in the past 10 years. Speaking on Day 1 of Google I/O 2025, Pichai said “It’s one of the most successful launches in Search in the past decade,” highlighting how the company’s AI tools are changing the way people use Google. “Our Gemini models are helping to make Google Search more intelligent, agentic and personalized,” he said.

In his keynote speech, Pichai revealed that Google’s AI Overviews — short AI-generated summaries on search result pages — have now reached more than 1.5 billion users across 200 countries and territories since the launch.
