The beauty of AI powered assistants is natural language: Google’s Angela Sun

Mountain View, California: Google Gemini artificial intelligence (AI) models have taken a significant step forward. At this year’s Google I/O 2025 keynote, Sundar Pichai who is CEO for Google and Alphabet, and Demis Hassabis who is CEO at Google DeepMind, revealed the company’s vision for the chatbot that must evolve into a versatile universal AI assistant. Or as some other companies tend to call this trend, AI agents or Agentic AI. Two of Google’s existing projects contributed significantly to Gemini’s planned transformation — Project Astra, to give AI situational context, such as video understanding, screen sharing and memory, as well as Project Mariner, which explores the future of human-agent interaction, starting with browsers.
