Assam govt proposes to lay OFC under river Brahmaputra up to Kolkata for faster internet connectivity

The Assam government is proposing to lay optical fiber cable under the Brahmaputra River up to Kolkata for faster internet connectivity. Recently, internet operations were affected in the government due to cable cuts. The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) last year decided to recall a proposal aimed at providing faster internet connectivity to India’s northeastern states. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently stated that the state government will propose laying optical fiber cable under the Brahmaputra River up to Kolkata.
