Apple to partner with this Chinese tech company for AI models in iPhones in China

Apple is partnering with Alibaba to bring AI services for iPhones in China. This collaboration is expected to bolster the Cupertino-based tech giant’s position in the crucial Chinese market, where it has faced declining iPhone sales. Alibaba Group chairman Joe Tsai confirmed the partnership at the World Governments Summit in Dubai.“They talked to a number of companies in China. In the end they chose to do business with us. They want to use our AI to power their phones. We feel extremely honoured to do business with a great company like Apple,” Tsai said.

While iPhones outside of China leverage a combination of Apple’s own AI and OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Tsai did not clarify whether the Alibaba partnership would follow a similar model.
