Amazon commits ‘huge investment’ to outspend Google, Microsoft in AI arms race
Amazon CEO Andy Jassy has said that the company is on track to spend $100 billion on capital expenditure in 2025, with the “vast majority” allocated to artificial intelligence (AI). During an analyst call, Jassy characterised AI as a “once in a lifetime” business opportunity that the e-commerce giant cannot afford to miss.
“I think that is reasonably representative of what you could expect in annualized capex rate in 2025. The vast majority of that capex spend is on AI for AWS,” Jassy said while replying to a question during Amazon’s Q4 earnings call.
