WhatsApp reportedly testing bill payment feature for users in India: Here’s what it means
Popular messaging app WhatsApp is reportedly testing a new feature that would allow users in India to make various bill payments directly within the app. This development marks a significant expansion of WhatsApp’s financial services offerings in one of its largest markets.
As reported by Android Authority, the upcoming feature is expected to enable users to pay a variety of bills, including electricity bills, water bills, mobile recharges, rent payments, and more. This functionality would be integrated into WhatsApp’s existing UPI-based payment system, WhatsApp Pay1. Currently, WhatsApp Pay allows users to send money to contacts and make payments to businesses via UPI.
