Airbnb blocked 74,000 bookings worldwide on New Year eve in 2023, and says will follow same measures in 2024 as well
Planning a New Year’s Eve party at an Airbnb? Think again. The company is deploying anti-party technology globally to prevent “unauthorized and disruptive” gatherings during the holiday season. This technology uses machine learning to identify and block risky bookings, focusing on factors like trip length, booking timing, and distance from the guest’s location. While implemented worldwide, the technology will specifically target the US, UK, Australia, Canada, France, Puerto Rico, Spain and New Zealand. Last New Year’s Eve, Airbnb blocked 74,000 such bookings.
