Government extends deadline for message traceability system once again, check new date

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has extended the deadline for telecom operators to implement a system for tracking the origins of commercial messages, including one-time passwords (OTPs). Originally set to take effect on November 1, the deadline was extended to December 1 after telcos raised concerns about potential disruptions. The regulatory body has now granted telecom operators an additional 10 days, until December 10, to implement this traceability mandate, designed to combat spam, scams, and cybercrime.
