Fake TTE detained at railway station in Tripura, claims he’s a victim of online fraud

A man was detained at Tripura’s Manu railway station on Wednesday for allegedly posing as a travelling ticket examiner and collecting “fines” from ticketless passengers.

The police identified him as Hossain Ali, a resident of Kailashahar in Unakoti district.

However, Ali claimed to have been duped by an online group into believing that he had been hired for the job of a TTE. “They (members of the online group) messaged me on Instagram about providing a central government job.
