Securing Critical Telecom Infra
The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has unveiled a draft Telecommunications Critical Telecommunication Infrastructure Rules, 2024 to safeguard country’s critical telecommunication infrastructure (CTI) against potential threats. The draft rules mark a significant step towards modernizing and securing India’s telecom sector.
CTI refers to essential components of telecom networks whose disruption could have severe consequences on national security, the economy, public health or safety. The draft rules empower the government to classify certain telecom infrastructure as CTI based on an assessment of its criticality.
