Spectrum auction: Centre garners Rs 1,000-crore from Jio, Airtel, Vi

New Delhi: The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has garnered over Rs 1000 crore from all the three private telecom operators –Bharti Airtel, Vodafone Idea (Vi) and Reliance Jio –who paid their first installment for the airwaves they had bought in the recent 5G spectrum auction.

As per officials, Airtel has paid around Rs 595 crore followed by Rs 315 crore from Vi and Rs 95.72 crore from Reliance Jio. The amount deposited by Airtel and Vi was slightly lower than their first instalment as the telcos had earlier paid some amount for using spectrum on an interim basis, the officials added.
