‘Let’s get to work’: Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman after Satya Nadella backs ‘emergency brake’ for AI models
Microsoft AI CEO Mustafa Suleyman has thrown his weight behind company chief executive Satya Nadella’s call for mandatory safeguards on advanced artificial intelligence (AI), declaring that containing superintelligence is an achievable technical hurdle the tech industry must tackle immediately. Reacting to Nadella’s safety proposals, Suleyman emphasised that humanity has successfully tamed high-risk innovations throughout history, framing AI oversight as a standard engineering milestone rather than an unsolvable dilemma.
“Super Intelligence must be contained… Today, this is an engineering and governance challenge. And it isn’t new. We’ve done it with planes, cars, nuclear materials, food safety, medicines… and everything else. Let’s get to work!” Suleyman wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
