Nvidia may be planning for more stake or acquisition deal for $25 billion in open-source AI startup

Nvidia is exploring a deal to either significantly expand its ownership stake in Reflection AI or acquire the high-profile open-source artificial intelligence (AI) startup entirely, a report has said. Citing individuals with direct knowledge of the discussions, a report by the Financial Times noted that negotiations between the two technology firms remain in their initial stages, and any prospective agreement could take several distinct structures.

Among the options under review is an “acqui-hire” framework, the report said, adding, under such an arrangement, Nvidia would bring over key technical talent and license the startup’s underlying proprietary architecture without executing a complete corporate takeover.
