Kolkata Metro Orange line: Trial runs begin on Beleghata-IT Centre section after months of delay

Trial runs on the Beleghata-IT Centre section of Kolkata Metro’s Orange Line began on Saturday, marking a key milestone for the city’s transport network after construction remained stalled for months over a clearance dispute between the Centre and the previous TMC government.

Construction work at the busy Chingrighata Crossing was held up amid a stalemate over police clearance. After the BJP came to power in West Bengal in May, police granted permission for the work, which was completed in phases over weekends.
