Tata Sons rejects Noel stand on Chandrasekaran debate over boardroom casting vote

Tata Sons has rejected the objection raised by Tata Trust chairman Noel N Tata, citing in a fresh letter two legal opinions that backed the reappointment of Natarajan Chandrasekaran for the third five-year term.

The legal opinions were obtained from former chief justice of India Uday U Lalit and former Supreme Court justice B. N. Krishna after the September 17 board meeting of Tata Sons. The opinions primarily dealt with the issue of the casting vote of Harish Manwani that broke the deadlock between two trust nominees on the Tata Sons board.
