Safety seal must for cell screen shields: Govt mandates BIS certification from 2027

Tempered glass used to protect mobile screens will have to undergo quality and safety mark approval from the government, following the electronics and information technology ministry’s decision to bring smartphone screen protectors under mandatory Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification.

The certification requires entities to secure regulatory approval before selling these products in India.
