Govt mandates BIS certification for smartphone screen protectors from April 1, 2027
The government has made Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification mandatory for smartphone screen protectors, requiring manufacturers and sellers to secure regulatory approval before marketing the products in India from April 1, 2027.
The move is expected to curb the sale of low-quality screen protectors and support domestic manufacturers such as Optiemus Infracom, which has started production of tempered glass screen protectors in India.
