    UPI zero-MDR run ends October 15, with charges for higher-value merchant payments

    The six-year zero merchant discount rate (MDR) era for UPI payments is set to end from October 15, with transactions above ₹2,000 at malls, restaurants, large merchants and e-commerce platforms attracting a 0.4 per cent MDR and capped at ₹300 for payments above ₹75,000.

    For select categories such as railways, telecom, insurance and fuel, the MDR will be a flat ₹5 on transactions above ₹2,000.
