Itel partners with PhonePe to bring UPI payments to feature phones: What it means for users

Itel has partnered with PhonePe to bring UPI payments to selected feature phones. This will allow users to make digital transactions without a smartphone or internet connection. The service will be available through a pre-installed PhonePe UPI 123Pay app on compatible Itel feature phones.With this partnership, the Chinese smartphone brand aims to bring UPI payments to customers who use feature phones, especially in rural and semi urban markets where smartphone ownership or reliable internet connectivity may be limited.
