Nvidia employee charged in Taiwan for smuggling advanced AI hardware into China
In the first documented criminal indictment of an Nvidia employee over unlawful export activities, prosecutors in Taiwan have formally charged a senior manager at the American semiconductor company for his alleged role in smuggling artificial intelligence (AI) hardware into mainland China. The Keelung District Prosecutors’ Office announced charges against nine individuals, including staff from server manufacturer Super Micro Computer, a local distribution partner and various intermediaries.
As per news agency Reuters, judicial authorities stated that the conspirators collaborated to pursue massive black-market windfalls – an operation prosecutors emphasised has inflicted serious harm on Taiwan’s standing in the international community.
