₹62,500-crore phone manufacturing scheme to boost DVA, foster champion Indian brands: Executives
NEW DELHI: The recently notified ₹62,500-crore Mobile Phone Manufacturing Scheme (MPMS) is expected to improve domestic value addition (DVA), reduce supply chain dependencies, and foster champion homegrown handset brands, said top industry executives.
“MPMS is a significant step to deepen domestic value addition, strengthen the supply chain and accelerate the development of a robust component ecosystem in India. Its focus on domestic sourcing of key components and support for Indian brands, design and R&D will further enhance long-term competitiveness,” said Pankaj Mohindroo, chairman, India Cellular and Electronics Association (ICEA).
