5G adoption in India to hit 62% by 2030: GSMA study
NEW DELHI: Fifth-generation or 5G network adoption is estimated to reach 62% by 2030, significantly higher than Asia Pacific’s average of 50%, according to the latest report released by the GSMA on Tuesday.
Presently, India’s top three private telecom operators, Reliance Jio, Bharti Airtel, and Vodafone Idea (Vi), are providing wireless 5G services. State-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is also expected to switch on its 5G network in the coming months.
India is identified as one of the region’s “Leading Nations”, alongside Bangladesh, Indonesia and Pakistan, where regulatory modernisation is seen as important to accelerating digital-economy growth and supporting mobile-industry sustainability, according to the London-based telco industry body.
