China to continue imposing anti-dumping duties on single-mode optical fibre imports from India

China’s commerce ministry said on Thursday that it will continue to impose anti-dumping duties on single-mode optical fibre imports from India for five more years, starting Friday (August 14), according to a Reuters report.

The decisions follows a review initiated a year ago, which found that terminating the anti-dumping measures could lead to the continuation or recurrence of dumping and harm China’s domestic optical fibre industry.

The tax rates, however, will remain unchanged. They range between 7.4% and 30.6% for various Indian optical fibre makers, including Sterlite Technologies (STL) with a 7.4% rate and 30.6% each for Aksh Optifibre and Finolex Cables.

China first implemented anti-dumping duties on Indian single-mode optical fibre in August 2014 and extended them for five years in 2020.
