Chandrasekaran walks in showdown, shaking the house of Tata

Tata Sons chairman N. Chandrasekaran has resigned abruptly, laying bare the sharp infighting on the board of the trust that is the key shareholder in the Tata Group companies.

Chandrasekaran’s detailed resignation letter outlines the major differences that have arisen on the board, primarily over the huge losses run up by group companies such as Air India.

The resignation comes a few days before a scheduled Tata Sons board meeting where the issue of Chandrasekaran’s extension was expected to face opposition.
