Chips Act 2.0

The European Union has introduced the Chips Act 2.0, a sweeping legislative overhaul designed to strengthen Europe’s semiconductor ecosystem, slash strategic dependencies on external suppliers, drive demand for European-made chips and support the design and production of both advanced and mainstream semiconductors within the bloc.
The original Chips Act — formally Regulation (EU) 2023/1781 — was adopted in direct response to the unprecedented supply chain shortages that crippled global industry during the Covid-19 pandemic. It marked the EU’s first coordinated effort to address critical vulnerabilities in the global semiconductor supply chain.
