As OpenAI and Google ‘found’ selling AI models to blacklisted Chinese companies; tech giants respond

Silicon Valley giants OpenAI and Google have confirmed they have been supplying advanced AI models to Singapore-based subsidiaries of Alibaba, Baidu and Tencent – three massive Chinese tech companies explicitly blacklisted by the US Pentagon over alleged ties to China’s military. OpenAI and Google both defended their international business practices while outlining how they monitor for illigal activity.

According to a report by The Financial Times, OpenAI revealed that it does not allow its models to be accessed directly from within mainland China.
