Oppo, Realme hike MOPs for over 40 smartphone models between Mar-Apr 2026: Counterpoint

NEW DELHI: AI-linked component shortages have likely impacted Chinese Oppo and Realme the most in India, with both brands hiking the market operating prices (MOPs) of more than 20 smartphone models each during March and April of this year, according to data released by Counterpoint Research on Tuesday.

Oppo increased MOPs by ₹2,000 to ₹4,000 (3-18%), while Realme increased MOPs by ₹500 to ₹3,000 (3-12%) during this period.

An MOP is the lowest price set by a brand at which a retailer can sell a handset to consumers. It serves as the real-world baseline price used by both brick-and-mortar stores and online e-commerce platforms to maintain fair competition and prevent aggressive undercutting.
