Teaching children to question artificial intelligence, understand its pros and cons

Most three-year-olds may struggle to spell their names, but many can already tell Alexa or Siri what to do.

They are interacting with artificial intelligence (AI) almost unknowingly, prompting the Early Childhood Association (ECA) to build an AI safety awareness kit to help parents and teachers guide young children through the technology.

“As parents and educators, we are playing the ostrich. We think AI is bad, but if we do not train our children to understand it, how will we keep them safe?” said Swati Popat Vats, president of the ECA.
